Since the dawn of civilization, metals and alloys have been fundamental to human progress, offering a unique blend of strength, ductility, and sustainability. A longstanding challenge in the field of metallurgy is to optimize multiple mechanical properties simultaneously; achieving high strength in alloys often comes at the expense of ductility and toughness. To address this issue, LAMP`s primary goal is to investigate alloys that can offer an exceptional balance of mechanical properties, even under extreme environmental conditions. This is achieved through state-of-the-art analysis of the interplay between alloy composition, damage tolerant microstructural design, and thermo-mechanical process.
